    How to clean your pingewood

    By Max on 03/08/2022

We designed the Pingewood so that it requires little cleaning and maintenance.

When you do need to clean it, you won’t need to get the marigolds out either. It’s fast, easy, and mess-free.

That said, if you want the outside of your Pingewood to look pristine for longer, you may want to consider purchasing a Barbow cover.

Your Barbow will need to be cared for to maintain the overall condition and functionality.

    Corten steel

Requires little to no maintenance, naturally oxidising overtime to protect itself from its environment. It will also heal itself from any blemishes or marks with a new layer of patina.

No treatment or cleaning to the exterior finish is required.

Simply wipe over with a damp microfibre cloth if any stains or debris do stick to the surface.

    Satin Graphite

A powder coated finish which is highly durable, rust and heat resistant.

Our specialised Italian paint provides lots of depth and is rich in colour.

Regular checks at least once a month and more regularly during bad weather, you should wipe all surfaces to keep dry and eradicate minor blemishes before they deteriorate further. Use our maintenance kit to eradicate any minor scuffs or blemishes.

Clean between uses – including removing ash to clear airways, wiping key areas with a dry microfibre cloth.

This finish will require more up-keep but less than a standard fire pit or chiminea.

    Ash Removal

Before igniting, ensure that a 1 inch bed of ash is present in the fuel bed. This will help protect the bed and insulate the fire for an even hotter burn.

The ash can be removed by a simple ash shovel and bucket. The fuel bed has been designed to make cleaning, maintenance and ash removal easy.

If the fuel bed is proving difficult to clean, a wire brush can be used to remove the toughest of stains. Do not use a wire brush on any other surface.

    Chamber

The inside chamber of the Barbow should not be cleaned as each burn will line the inside of the chimney which will protect the material. The only area that should be cleaning is the fuel bed.
