Storing Your Pingewood For Winter
Estimated reading time: 3 minutes
Pingewoods are designed to withstand the harshest of outdoor environments. Each Pingewood undergoes rigorous testing and development before it lands in your garden.
We use corten steel which naturally oxidises overtime to create a beautiful patina rust colour that oozes with vibrant orange and browns. It creates its own protective layer and will heal itself overtime.
Our satin graphite powder coated paint finish is produced in Italy to a very high standard. Not only does it glisten beautifully but it has both rust and heat resistant properties that enable it to withstand the outdoors.
We worked hard creating and finding the perfect paint that would protect and look beautiful too. We were fed up of other outdoor fires rusting and falling apart after a season due to this problem.
Do I Need To Cover My Pingewood?
It is not essential at all! With anything if you would like to pro-long the lifespan of an outdoor object it is necessary for you to cover it.
Checkout our waterproof and breathable outdoor Barbow cover.
Anything that you leave sitting out in the open of your garden is susceptible to getting dirty. Rain, pollution, insects, and birds are all culprits for making stuff mucky in the garden.
By keeping your chiminea covered you can drastically reduce the possibility of it getting dirty meaning much less time having to clean it before use…or even before displaying its lovely charm in your garden in the spring.
Where should I store my Pingewood?
Ensure that all embers have been extinguished and that the fire is cold to touch before moving. To move the Barbow you will require 2 or more people to manoeuver it safely.
Your Pingewood should be stored in a dry space such as a garage or shed.
You should also check that the fire is not wet when placing the cover as this creates the perfect environment for rust to attack the surface of your Barbow. It is best practice to dry and wipe down your Barbow before storing.
Make sure not to store your Pingewood 24 hours after your last fire to guarantee that all embers have been extinguished. This is essential as they could re-ignite and cause a fire and secondly it could produce a build up of carbon monoxide which kills.
A Pingewood will last you, at least, a lifetime allowing you to enjoy warm outdoor heating enjoyment for years to come. Each Pingewood comes standard with a 1 year warranty which can be extended to 5 years.
It is not essential but if you would like to pro-long the lifespan of your fire or store it for winter than one of our Barbow covers will come in handy.
No! Your Pingewood will not crack when the weather gets cold. Many Pingewoods are used in the coldest of climates.
You can use your Pingewood in any weather! A simple wipe down will do the job.
